Rainwater harvesting
Catch rain, measure it and use it for plants.
I can measure rain in cm and tell where rain comes from.
A science experiment video with a free worksheet and answer key for teachers
About the video
In the video rainwater is caught, measured and used for plants. At home your child tapes a ruler to a straight sided jar, places it outside away from trees and roofs, reads the rain in cm every day at 8:00 for 5 days, and then waters a plant with it.
The sun warms water in seas and lakes, it turns into vapour and rises, cools into clouds and falls as rain when the drops get heavy. The jar works as a rain gauge, and using rainwater for plants saves tap water.
