Beach alphabets
Make letters with stones and shells.
I can make letters with straight and curved lines.
A literacy video lesson with a free worksheet and answer key for teachers
About the video
In the video letters are laid out on the beach with stones and shells. At home your child uses 30 stones and 20 shells on a patch of sand or a sand tray to make I, L and O and a stone, shell pattern.
Letters are made of lines, and some lines are straight, like in I and L, while others are curved, like in O and S. Letters with more lines need more stones, so E needs more stones than I.
