Sand writing
Write letters, numbers and shapes in the sand.
I can write letters and numbers with the right start.
A literacy video lesson with a free worksheet and answer key for teachers
About the video
In the video letters, numbers and shapes are written in damp sand. At home your child writes the letter a with a finger, a stick and a shell, then writes 1 to 5, draws a circle, a square and a triangle, and writes their name. Damp sand has a little water between the grains that holds them together, so the lines stay, while dry sand rolls back. Most letters and numbers start at the top, and the hand makes the same moves in sand as on paper.
