Is it divisible by 15?

Jump to the right side or the wrong side, and test numbers for 3 and 5 at once.

I can test if a number is divisible by 15 by checking 3 and 5.

A math video lesson with a free worksheet and answer key for teachers

About the video

In the video players jump to a RIGHT or WRONG zone depending on whether a number is divisible by 15. At home 4 or more players tape a start line and two zones, and a caller reads 12 numbers from 45 to 210. 15 = 3 x 5, so a number is divisible by 15 only when it passes both tests: it ends in 0 or 5, and its digit sum is divisible by 3. This works because 3 and 5 have no common factor except 1.

What your child learns

  • Test numbers for 5 using the last digit
  • Test numbers for 3 using the digit sum
  • Combine both tests to check divisibility by 15
